Product Description

This is a new zoom lens from Tamron that lets you bring your far away subjects up close while compressing the distance between the main subject and the background for professional-looking results. Even while covering up to a 500mm that enables you to take ultra telephoto shots of subjects further than the eye can see, its design is extremely lightweight and compact. When mounted on an APS-C size digital SLR camera, it provides a focal length equivalent to a 760mm for super ultra telephoto imaging.

Pros: Decently sharp, long, cheap, lightweight.
Cons: Slow autofocus, no focus limiter. Minolta version front-focuses (though Canon is fine)
Bottom Line: Almost a great lens, due to low weight, low cost, and good sharpness. But focus issues makes it difficult for wildlife photography.

Pros: Light, long, relatively cheap and sharp.
Cons: No focus limiter. Tendency to front-focus. Soft, with purple fringing at 500mm.
Bottom Line: Low weight and antishake make this a great long lens for hand-held shots. But I wish it had an autofocus limiter to help with flying birds.
