Pros: Great low light shots and alot of bang for the buck, easy to use.
Cons: Not a long battery life and a long recycle time especially with low light photos.
The Bottom Line: A great little digital camera for very little money that can take great low light photos. I would recommend it to anyone who is going digital for the first time.

I had sworn on a stack of holy books that I would never be sucked into the digital world, then I went to China. I have always liked to shoot film. There is in my opinion nothing better than film. I own a very nice Canon camera with two lens that is my baby but it is also big and hard to pack. I also keep a running journal of my journeys and this time my friends wanted me to include photos which you can't do easily with film.
Enter the Canon A560. Now I know this camera fairly well since I have been asked to buy them before to bring to Almaty, Kazakhstan for friends. Long story, another time. This time I was buying it for me. It is compact and easy to use. It is familiar because it is a Canon which I am use to using. It is a great little camera for the money.
When I first got to Hong Kong I took photos with both cameras, my film and my digital, and I have to admit the picture quality from the digital was very good. It took better low light photos for sure. The fact that I could see the photo "right now" was also a plus. When I arrived in Yangchun I only got to use the camera one time before it was stolen. It is out there somewhere and replacing it here in China was a joke. I had to send back to the US to get my replacement camera.
I only got to use it a short time but once it was stolen I realized how much I loved taking picture with it. When I got the replacement camera I have to admit that my film camera never sees the light of day anymore. It is easier to tote along and it takes great shots.
I have even set up a site for my friends to view the photos at Walgreen's which is very handy. I have a 2GB memory card which holds plenty of photos. And I have learned to download pretty often and also keep a backup just in case. I am a little paranoid about losing photos.
The cost here to make photos from the digital camera is so cheap that it is crazy not to do it. I have made many copies of different shots to share with the kids I teach and it has been very cheap, like about a penny a piece.
The downside to this camera, well the battery life isn't great. I have not had the best luck with batteries lasting more than about 100 or so photos. It takes great low light photos but the recycle time is very long. I tried to take a series of fireworks shots and the recycle time was awful. However if you can live with those two issue then this is a great little camera for the money.
I have to say that it has changed my opinion of ever going digital and now I am almost to the point of putting the film camera away, but not quite.
