Pros: Great value for the money, a notch below a DSLR.
Cons: Some noise at high ISOs (above ISO400, low light shooting conditions) but nothing life-threatening!
Bottom Line: Go for it! You can't go wrong with the DMC-FZ50

Pros: great feel, lightweight, simple controls, fabulous lens.
Easy to learn, flexible as any SLR
Cons: noise reduction hit above 200 ISO. Nothing else.
Bottom Line: Buy it. Unless you really would prefer a DSLR, in which case you shouldn't even be looking at this unit.

Pros: Great photos, very easy operations, zoom ring
Cons: Bulky, but expected from a "superzoom" camera
Bottom Line: Great camera if you don't mind a bulkier camera that you can't just throw in your bag and a great step between point and shoot and SLR.
