Great Camera from Pentax!

The main reason I went with this camera was the weather sealing and the fact it was very comparable in picture quality to its competitors.

The K10 feels great in your hands, it feels "real". Its nice to know when you are out shooting and it starts to sprinkle that your camera will be okay because it is weather resistant (completely if shooting with the weather resistant *DA lenses).

The K10 offers some easy access buttons you will not find on the competitors like a one push RAW button to turn on RAW without diving into the settings, you can select ISO (sensitivity) priority from the selector as well as the usual aperture and manual settings etc.

The only real complaints I have had or read about have been first the softer JPG pictures which if you are shooting professional (critical) shots will not effect you anyways because will probably be shooting in the RAW format. If you want to run with JPG you can set your "Image Tone" to bright mode and up your "Sharpness" by +1 or +2 and "Saturation" by +1 or so in the settings and you will probably be happy if you ever noticed the softness in the first place.

Many had been concerned by the lack of lenses in comparison to the competitors but in reality I don't think this was ever really an issue because with the K10D it will fit pretty much any Pentax lens ever made just don't forget that the older lenses will be more magnified because of the different focal length of the digital vs film cameras. Also Pentax is releasing a multitude of new lenses over the next year with probably many more to come as they have now announced the new Pentax K20D as well.

If you are on a budget you can also get affordable kit glass to go with this camera until you can afford the good stuff. Otherwise you can still use the older manual lenses with it as well that can be found reasonably on Ebay and such.

I am glad I chose this camera over the Canon, Nikon or Sony options near this price range.
