Great little Camera

The Sony DSC-W80 is our first digital camera, bought after a lot of research. We had narrowed the field, but when I tried the other cameras, they were difficult to use. We wanted some basic features, macro, fairly fast power up and shot-to-shot speed, in a compact camera. We got that, and much, much more with the Sony W80. This camera is easy to use right out of the box -you can almost skip the manual - and the photos are amazing. It powers up quickly, and shoots pic after pic fairly rapidly. I took a picture using the macro setting of an 18th century garment, and I can count the stitches on the embroidery! Compact(3.6" x 2.4" x 0.90, it comes in four body colors: silver, black, white and pink )It will shoot beautifully on auto, or on manual settings, for photo size, or for an e-mail friendly attachment. It has auto-stabilization, facial recognition ability, macro, a focal length of 5.8 - 17.4mm, zoom (3x)and much, much more. The menu actually uses icons for clarity, and it's almost impossible to delete a pic accidentally. I say almost skip the manual, because you want to know just how much this little workhorse can do

We've now taken photos everywhere but the beach, and it performs as promised,and more.

Getting the images from camera to computer to print has been a breeze. The only downside is the cost of the battery and memory stick. I highly recommend this camera, especially if you spring for a second or large memory stick, and a back-up battery.
